The race for the October 12 presidential election is underway. This Saturday, July 26, Elecam unveiled the list of candidates selected for the 2025 presidential election. This list includes Head of State Paul Biya and opposition leader Cabral Libii, leader of the PCRN. Maurice Kamto , nominated by MANIDEM, has his candidacy rejected.
Dissident ministers from the Paul Biya regime, Issa Tchiroma Bakary and Bello Bouba Maigari, are also in the running for this election. A staunch pan-Africanist, Espoir Serge Matomba of the PURS (Personal Training Service) has had his candidacy validated. Candidates whose applications are rejected have the option of appealing to the Constitutional Council for litigation.
